About Langford Park Hockey
We take all skaters, regardless of ability, and make them active participants in our program. We excite them about the outdoors in the dead of winter, help them develop their hockey skills, teach them to respect each other and work as a team. We help develop a love for the sport that will stay with them long after the “youth” has been dropped from the hockey they play.
Langford Park is located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Our hockey program operates out of the Langford Park Rec Center at 30 Langford Park and serves families in St. Anthony Park and surrounding neighborhoods. We sponsor teams for kids ages 4 to 14
About Langford Classic
Each January, the Booster Club sponsors a Winter Classic festival that includes among other things, a Mini-Mite scramble and various skating games for the kids. The Mini-Mite scramble is typically on Sunday afternoon. The Langford Classic started in 1963.
About Langford Park Rinks
Once outdoor ice is ready at Langford Park (usually around the mid-December), practices for both groups are held outdoors from 6:30 to 7:30 usually on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Again, depending on participant numbers, one of the age groups may switch their structured practice night to Wednesdays.
Playing outdoor hockey at Langford Park is a traditional part of our program and as documented by the Minnesota Historical Society, dates back to at least the late 1920's. Today, the outdoor ice reduces the need to purchase indoor practice ice, plays host our annual Winter Classic Squirt tournament and Mini-Mite Scramble, and helps build a community gathering spot for the surrounding neighborhoods.
